Steven John Bothun. Thinker, hardworker, award winning newscaster in Duluth MN, LaCrosse WI and Billings MT. Born to Roy and Elda Bothun on January 6, 1955. 55 years young, Steve passed away peacefully with his family around him on February 3, 2010 at Hennepin County Medical Center. Steve had many passions in his life, all of which he was very talented at. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1973 and shortly threafer joined the Air Force where he obtained his pilots license. Flying in the clouds was his first true passion. He was a successful neewscaster and investigative reporter for KBJR in Duluth and WKBT in LaCrosse Wi for over ten years. During this time he received an Associated Press Award for "The Evelyn Hartley Story." He had a number of small roles in major motion pictures and for the last ten years had produced his own short films and news stories. But Steve's greatest of passions was being a father to his two beloved sons, Jonathan and Paul Bothun, who he loved very much.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elda Bothun and younger brother, Timothy Bothun. He is survived and greatly missed by his two sons, Jonathan (wife Katie), Paul, brother Rob, his father Roy and his lifelong friend, Jackie Bothun.

Funeral Information

Funeral srvice 11:00 A.M. Tuesday (February 9, 2010) at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 7625 Chicago Avenue South, Richfield. Visitation will be held 5-8 P.M. Monday (February 8, 2010) at Morris Nilsen Chapel, 6527 Portland Avenue South, and one hour prior to the service at church.
