Margaret Elizabeth Herum

Margaret Elizabeth Herum passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 4th, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Spring Grove, MN to Emil and Mary Engell on December 10, 1922. She was raised in Clam Falls, WI until age 14, then moved with her parents to Minneapolis and graduated from South High School. Margaret worked as a teller at Northwestern Bank in downtown Minneapolis where she met her husband, Harold. They married in 1955 and moved into their first house on 49th & Emerson. In 1959, Jonathan was born, with Mary Beth to follow two years later. In 1962, they moved one block, to 49th & Fremont where they lived for the next 43 years. During those years, she wore many hats; gifted homemaker and gardener, Sunday School teacher and choir member at Central Lutheran Church, seamstress, Campfire Girl and Cub Scout Leader, wonderful cook and hostess, caregiver and friend. In 2005, they moved to a condominium at Kenwood Isles where she created another beautiful home, and continued her love of gardening and fellowship. Wherever she was, she made life-long friendships. Margaret had many gifts and abilities, was deeply loved and admired, and lived a life of faithfulness, service and purpose. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Survived by husband of 56 years, Harold; their children, Jonathan (Lee) Herum and Mary Beth (Clay) Thompson; three granddaughters, Rachel Elizabeth Moen, Sarah Beth Aydinalp, and Bethany Grace Aydinalp; extended family, and numerous friends.

Funeral Information

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday ( February 11, 2012 ) at Central Lutheran Church, 333 So. 12th St., Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church, and a luncheon to follow.
