Reed W. Vinge, age 88 of Richfield. Born October 16, 1925 in Minot, ND, grew up in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Central High School and Drury University. He served 4 years in the Nay and 22 years in the Army followed by 19 years as a Hennepin County Felony Probation Officer. Avid golfer and 35 year member of Hastings Country Club.
Preceded in death by wife of 61 years, Esther; grandson, Eric; brother, Donald; sister, Donna. Survived by children Gary (Scarlet), Dennis (Kathy), David (Sue Dorweiler), Daniel (Sue), Donald (Wendy), Carol (Kirk) Romsaas; grandchildren, Daniel, Maile, Amy, Alan, Matthew, Zachary, Erik, Zoey, Billy, Charlie, Sam, and Reed; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Kay (Al) Anderson and Shirley Robeck.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Senior Helpers, Fairview Home Care, and Sunrise Senior Living of Edina.
Services 11:00 A.M. Thursday ( June 19, 2014 ) at Morris Nilsen Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave. S., Richfield. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 P.M. and one hour before the service.
I remember Reed very well. A real mentor for me as a Hennepin County probation officer.
Great insight and a mentor to many of us.
