Sharon Peterson Silcocks
10.2.1940 – 10.28.2025
Sharon Marie-Velugu Peterson Silcocks was born on October 2, 1940, in Amery, WI. Her family moved to Greybull, WY when she was four, laying the foundation for her love of the West. She was active in school as a cheerleader and played French horn in the band. She then ventured on her own to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in Northfield, MN.
Sharon pursued a career as a Physical Education teacher. Her first job brought her to Elbow Lake High School in West Central MN. She met Wayne Schneeberger and they married in 1962. They settled on a family farm outside Elbow Lake where they raised three children: Steven, Annette, and Joel.
Sharon worked outside the home most of her life and enjoyed restaurant work the most as a server or manager. She was a woman ahead of her time as she participated in hobbies such as women's softball, bowling, and motorcycling. She maintained a large garden, baked bread weekly, canned all summer, sewed clothes, volunteered at church, and attended her children's events. She went back to school to study psychology and explored art and writing classes.
Yet, throughout her time in Minnesota, her heart yearned for the mountains and the cowgirl’s way of life. In 1990 she left Minnesota for the West where she lived and worked in Montana and Arizona with her second husband, Don Silcocks. She spent her final years near her son Steven at Havenwood memory care in Richfield.
Sharon was loved by all for her personable, gentle manner, bright smile, and care for others. She was a devoted mother and wife who dedicated much of her life to her children and family.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Schneeberger and Don Silcocks and her brother, Adrian. She is survived by her brother, Gary, and her children, Steven, Annette (Brian), Joel (Kristen), and three grandchildren, Ava, Nathaneal, and Lillian.
