December 25, 1940 - May 3, 2026
Irene A. Sable, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 85.
Irene was born on December 25, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Howard and Ruth Johnson. Born on Christmas Day, she carried that spirit with her throughout her life, giving generously of her time, her energy, and her heart to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry Johnson, and her sister Dee (Don) Tuttle.
Irene is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Sable, and her children: Carrie (Frank) Senta, Julie (Brian) Lentz, Steve (Angie), and Mike. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Nick (Justine), Jake, Luke, Samantha, Emma, Austin, Colby, Matthew, and Lucy, and a loving great-grandmother to Marin and Elliott. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in each of them.
Irene lived a life grounded in service. At House of Prayer Lutheran Church, she was a familiar and steady presence, volunteering her time and helped build a community rooted in care and connection.
Her commitment to serving others extended beyond the church giving her time and energy to causes that mattered deeply to her. Irene was an active supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and also volunteered with VEAP, contributing to efforts that supported families and individuals in need. She believed in showing up and doing what she could, wherever she was needed.
While service was central to her life, nothing brought Irene more joy than her family. She was a constant presence at her grandchildren’s activities, faithfully attending games, performances, and events. Whether in the stands, on the sidelines, or in the audience, she showed up with quiet pride and unwavering support. Her presence was steady, her encouragement genuine, and her love unmistakable.
Irene will be remembered for her warmth, her humility, and her deep sense of responsibility to others. She had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for without drawing attention to herself. She created a home and a life defined by consistency, kindness, and love.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the 3 East Team at Mount Olivet Care Home for their compassion, kindness, and attentive care.
Irene’s life was one of quiet impact, strong relationships, and enduring love. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
