Carolyn M. Ring

Carolyn McLean Ring, of Richfield and St. Louis Park, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the age of 99, with her family by her side.

Born August 12, 1926 to Milford and Bessy McLean, Carolyn graduated from Washburn High School, attended U of M law school,and later earned her degree from Metropolitan State University. Throughout her life, Carolyn was dedicated to serving her community. She worked at Hope Presbyterian Church, Metropolitan State University, and in Governor Al Quie's administration. A tireless volunteer, she devoted countless hours to Hope Church, where she was the last surviving charter member, her children's schools, the Richfield City Charter Commission, and local, state and federal political causes. In the 1960's, she served as State Republican Chairwoman. She touched so many lives, making a lasting impression with the respectfulness and encouragement she showed to everyone. She made sure everyone felt welcome wherever she was.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Ward Ring, Sr.

Survived by children, Linda (Gary) Haugen, Peggy (Joe) Schierl, Diane (Phil) Pflepsen and Ward Ring, Jr.(Sandy); grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) Hedwall, Laura (Luke) George, Erik (Jillian) Haugen, Chris (Dalanna) Pflepsen, Kelsey Pflepsen, Ashley (Tyler) Brown and Mishawn Ring; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Maya Carolyn and Layla George; Caroline, Mason and Casey Haugen; Micah and Caleb Hedwall, Reece Pflepsen and Elijah and Isla Brown.

We would like to thank the staff at Parkwood Senior community for their care and compassion during our mom's final months.
