Douglas J. Danielson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

Douglas J. Danielson, age 77, of Bloomington, MN died peacefully on July 5th, 2016. Doug graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin in 1957. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired member of the Minneapolis Police Department. During Doug’s time in the military, he was stationed at Stead Air Force Base in Reno, Nevada. He was attached to the Flying Training Wing & the Crew Training Squadron with emphasis on survival. During Doug’s time as a Minneapolis Police Officer, he was credited with a number of personal commendations for heroism in the line of duty. He was a member of The Special Operations Division. He helped create Crime Stoppers, which aired on KSTP Channel 5. Doug was a member of the security detail for Hubert H. Humphry, Walter Mondale, as well as Ted Kennedy. He provided diplomatic security for dignitaries while stationed in Minneapolis. Doug was always the leader of our pack and will be deeply missed. Doug is survived by his children, Brett Danielson, John Danielson, Todd (Kathy) Danielson, Keith (Karen) Danielson, Cristen Danielson; grandchildren, Julie, Eli, Brittney, Jack, Bella, Karissa, Keith Jr., Kalvin; brother; Scott Danielson (Nancy); sisters Diana Nelson, Sue Willis. Preceded in death by parents Carl and Eva Danielson.
