Douglas W. Johnson, age 79, of Richfield. Born July 15, 1935 at Mankato, MN to Bennett and Pearl Johnson. He passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2014. Douglas was raised on a farm near Norseland, MN, attended country grade school through 8th grade and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1953. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1957 and while a senior, married Carol Hanson on December 28, 1956. He went on to the University of Minnesota to graduate in engineering in 1960. Douglas was employed as a civil engineer for 10 years before joining 3M Co. in St. Paul, where he worked for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Jeffrey, Jon, Eric, Elizabeth and Naomi; 6 grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Berland Johnson of Sacramento, CA, and Dennis Johnson of Litchfield, MN.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3901 - 1st Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the Church. Private Graveside Service and Interment, 1:30 P.M. Friday, October 3, 2014, at Norseland Lutheran Church Cemetery, Norseland, MN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Minneapolis; Norseland Lutheran Church, St. Peter; and the Alzheimer's Association.
