Edmund W. Kodet age 101, formerly of Richfield died on April 30, 2026, at 12:15AM at The Glenn Hopkins Memory Care where Ed lived the last three years with Alzheimer’s.
Preceded in death by beloved wife, LaVerne; sisters, Cecelia Kodet, Henrietta, Mary (Leonard) Knaresboro, Matilda (James) Dworshak; brothers, Roman (Evelyn), Stanley, Raymond, John (Dorothy), and Wencel; and brother-in-law, Alan Sweet. Survived by sister, Philothea Sweet; sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Rosemary; nephews, Daniel (Cathie) Kodet and Richie Knight; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

I had the pleasure of living across the street from Ed, in his Richfield home, for over twenty years. In that time, I never once heard him speak an unkind word about anyone! How many of us can say that? Whether it was bringing home-made wine to our “night’s out” or begging for money (as he used to say) for worthy charities, he was the heart of our neighborhood! I will miss him dearly.
