Gary C. North - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

January 7, 1943 - August 17, 2018

Gary C. North, of Richfield, MN passed away on Friday August 17, at the age of 75. Born January 7, 1943, in Minneapolis, and raised in Cottagewood on Lake Minnetonka. As a young man he joined the US Marine Corps, and served on the USS Oriskany. In the service he saw much of the world and primarily sailed the Pacific Ocean, his travels include a fond memory of hiking up and watching the sun rise over Mount Fuji, Japan. A father of two children, he was known in Richfield as a youth hockey coach and a volunteer in Cub Scouts. He opened his doors each summer to neighbors and family friends through many years for pool parties, and gathering for sports events. Most of his career he was a salesman in the classic sense, his affable personality made him a natural fit. He spent the key years of his career in the food industry working with restaurants representing quality food products. Gary had a passion for cooking and prepared a plethora of unique family meals throughout his life. A lover of music of all flavors, it was common to hear all sorts of music in the house, and when in the mood, loud classic rock could be heard down the street! In his later years he loved time with his grandson Charlie, making him mac and cheese and hot dogs, and swimming together in the summer, eventually nicknaming the pool "Charlie's Pool". Preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Roberta, brother Brian, and wife Vickie. He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Ryan, daughter Becky, brother Bruce, brother Brad, sister Nikki, grandson Charlie, and many nieces and nephews. It is with fondness that we say goodbye, sad to have lost him while happy that he is now at peace.
