Gary D. Olson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

February 24, 1942 - November 10, 2016

Gary D. Olson, age 74 of Richfield, MN passed away peacefully on November 10 surrounded by his loved ones. He was known for his gentle spirit, his joy in making music with others, and his love and loyalty to his family and friends. He played accordion, guitar, piano, banjo, and sang tenor with many choirs including the Normandale Community Choir and the North St. Paul Alumni Choir, as well as playing in several rock and roll bands throughout his life. He had a deep faith and love for God that he shared at church and at home through prayer, worship leading, scripture reading and sharing in faithful fellowship. He enjoyed taking road trips throughout the country with Maxine while camping in their trailer, and they often travelled to see friends and family this way. All who knew him will miss his welcome, his kindness, his music, and his friendship. Preceded in death by his parents Donald and Lucille Olson. He is survived by Maxine, his wife of 52 years, and children Eric, Kristin Hueg (Mark), Katherine Olson (Graham) and Beth Doermann (Mason), cousins Tim Schmitt and Brad Olson, and grandchildren Bennett, Christopher and Rachael and many other loved ones.

Memorials preferred to: First Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN (http://flcwb.org) or Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Richfield, MN (http://www.oakgrovelutheran.org/), the churches where Gary dedicated so much of his time and talent.
