Geraldine “Gerry” M. Budewitz

July 10, 1924 - June 24, 2021

Geraldine "Gerry" M. Budewitz, age 96 of Bloomington. Born July 10, 1924, Gerry slipped away peacefully in her sleep on June 24, 2021. A graduate of St. Paul Central HS, Gerry went on to become one of the first women to work at Campbell-Mithun Advertising. She also worked for the U.S. Air Force in Châteauroux, France for several years and enjoyed trips to Paris as well as many European countries. Her travels continued with frequent trips to Acapulco and Hawaii. On her return to Minneapolis she worked as an administrative assistant for several executives. Gerry was an expert seamstress and tailored many of her own clothes. At family events she gave hula lessons to her nieces and wasn’t afraid to join in softball games or zip down the slip-and-slide. In later years Gerry enjoyed lunches with friends, shopping at Galleria, champagne and fondue at Christmas, hanging out with her many relatives, and friendships with her neighbors on Oliver Avenue South. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Jane) Budewitz; as well as almost two dozen nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on July 6 at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 7540 Penn Avenue South, Richfield. Visitation one hour prior. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to St. Richard's Catholic Church.

  1. Dave & Julie Cole says:

Gerry lived directly across the street from us on Oliver Avenue South for over 20 years. We treasured Gerry as a neighbor. Kind, sweet, sharp witted, always easy to laugh or smile. We asked Gerry once, “What is your secret for staying active and staying in good heath”? She replied, “Keep moving”! We continue to follow her advice as Gerry has moved to a much better place. Our sympathies to Gerry’s family.
