James A. Moe - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

July 6, 1957 - September 20, 2019

James A. Moe, age 62, of Burnsville, passed away suddenly on September 20, 2019. Born on July 6, 1957 in Minneapolis to Arnold and Marilyn Moe. Jim graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1975, later lived in Bloomington, and most recently in Burnsville. A 1985 graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, Jim became a Certified Public Accountant in 1986 and most recently was Chief Financial Officer for Black Ridge Oil & Gas Co. and Black Ridge Acquisition Corporation. Jim married Patrice Schmidt on July 6, 1985 and this union was blessed with two sons, Brian and Jacob. Jim married Carol (Olsen) Swenson on September 8, 2018. Jim was a beloved and active member of Oak Grove Lutheran Church where he served as head usher and played golf with the Oak Grove League. Golf was his game and he enjoyed his annual trips with friends. Jim's ultimate golf trip was to The Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland in the company of Neil Armstrong, Harmon Killebrew and other notables. Jim loved all kinds of music and the performing arts and he celebrated that by attending many live concerts and plays. Jim reveled in his newfound world of being a grandparent to two lucky boys and he had a special bond with them. Entertaining at their home and gathering with family and friends was a highlight for Jim and Carol. He was always ready to share his best bottle of wine and the story that went with it. This past year, Jim has been living the dream with the love of his life. He will be forever missed. Survived by wife and best friend, Carol Swenson; sons, Brian Moe and Jacob Moe and their mother Patrice; step-children, Anna (David) Pagel, Sarah (Ben) Johnson and Erik Swenson (Dani); father, Arnold Moe; siblings, Lynette (Lynn) Waldenberger, Beverly Moe, Jan (Dale) Foss, David (Margie) Sandberg and John (Kate) Sandberg; grandsons, Sam Pagel and Luke Pagel; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn and step-mother, Patricia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Oak Grove Lutheran Church or Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp.
