Joan Lorraine Swanson
Age 83 of Farmington, MN, formally Grafton, ND, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center in Northfield, MN.
Joan was born November 21, 1931 on the family farm outside of Stephen, MN to Herbert and Irene (Sjodin) Swanson. She graduated from Stephen High School in 1949. Joan retired after more than 30 years of service from the Grafton State School, Grafton, ND. She loved crafts of all kinds, especially ceramics, photography, reading, family gatherings and travelling the many open spaces of the western states. Her generous spirit, infectious laugh and stories will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Joan is survived by her siblings Erma Susedik of Sarcoxie, MO, Marilyn (Jack) Grace of Butte, MT and Rodney Swanson of Webster, MN; aunt Joyce Sjodin of Farmington, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Yvonne (Glendon) Crocker and Gwen Swanson.
