John Lundquist - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

November 25, 1920 - October 30, 2015


John Alden Lundquist was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN. The youngest of five, he attended Washburn High School and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, in India. He completed his journalism degree at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He established his career at the Minot Daily News in North Dakota; then lived with his sister, Betty Tibbott and her family while working at the Associated Press in Washington, DC. He moved back to Minneapolis and met Alice Hansen through Twin City Lutheran Young Adults. They married in 1963 and raised three children in Richfield, MN. He spent the majority of his career as a journalist at the Associated Press, followed by a decade at HCMC. He was a long-time member of Woodlake Lutheran Church. His faith in Jesus Christ shaped his life. He is remembered for a quirky sense of humor and his way with words, his love of family, friends, the Twins and the Vikings. He is survived by wife, Alice; children, Karen Lundquist (Jeryl), Brian Lundquist (Judy), and Alex; Jana Oman (Paul), and Tommy, Kelsey and Emily; sisters-in-law, Rosie Lundquist, Evelyn Hansen, Ardelle Hansen, Luella Hansen; brother-in-law, Eugene Hansen (Audrey); nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Mabel; his siblings, Dory, Betty and her husband, Lloyd, Carl and his wife, Flory, Judd; and nephew, Peter.

Memorials are preferred to Woodlake Lutheran church, The Journalism Library at the University of Minnesota or Grace Hospice in Minneapolis.
