Kathleen Ann Penterman

Kathleen A. Penterman (nee McDonell) Age 82, Eden Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023. She was born April 3, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Alan and Dora (Frovold) McDonell. Kathy and her husband, John, were married for 51 years. Kathleen was a loving mother to her two children, Michael and Megan. Kathy graduated from St. Catherine University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She started her career in the lab at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. She then joined the Minnesota Department of Health as a microbiologist where she worked for over 34 years. Kathy was ahead of her time as a gifted woman in science. She was passionate about her work while still taking care of her family. She enjoyed her grandkids, gardening, music, mystery books, and the theater. Kathy loved cars starting with her 1965 Mustang all the way through her 2004 Eclipse Spyder convertible. She just didn't drive on the freeways. Kathy was able to bring her family on several traveling adventures. She had many furry family members during her time on earth - Max, Puppy, Myrrh, Laverne and Shirley, Dino, Casper, Elmo, Sam, Wilbur, and Baby. Kathleen is survived by her children: Michael (Katie) Penterman, Carver, MN; Megan (Chad) Gustafson, Orono, MN; four grandchildren: Carter and Joshua Penterman and Sam and Luke Gustafson. She was preceded in death by one infant sister, Sandra, and her husband, John.
