Lester V. Koppang - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

Lester V. Koppang, age 94, of Bloomington, MN, died at the MN Masonic Home on November 11, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. Lester was born August 18, 1922, the youngest of 7 children born to Mary (Lunos) and Olaf Koppang. He grew up on a farm near Climax, MN. He joined the Navy in March 1946. He served until December 1947, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class. In July 1950 he married Dorothy Larson. They moved to Minneapolis where Lester was an airplane mechanic for Northwest Airlines. In 1961 he began working for the City of Bloomington. He retired in 1985.
Lester was an avid woodworker and all-around handyman but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy; sons, Mark and Leslie; great-granddaughter, Zoe Keim; son-in-law, Dick Aamodt and 6 siblings.
He is survived by sons, Stanley (Kathryn) Koppang, Jamestown, ND and Gary (Tammy) Koppang, Apple Valley, MN; daughter, Jeanne Aamodt and a daughter-in-law, Irene LaFlex, both of Bloomington; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
