Marie Ann Matheson

Marie Ann Matheson, age 90, of Mendota Heights, formerly of South Minneapolis, passed away June 26, 2023.

Marie was born in Lakeville, Minnesota to Emil and Emma Chesney. She and her older sister Agnes worked hard on the farm, tending to livestock and driving tractors. Marie first attended a one room school house, was smart enough to skip a couple of grades, and graduated from Lakeville High School. After graduating she worked for the State of Minnesota in downtown Saint Paul. Marie and Don met during the Christmas season of 1955 and they were married eight weeks later on Valentine's Day. They lived for many years in South Minneapolis. When caring for their house became a burden they moved to a townhouse in Mendota Heights. They both loved living next to a pond where they could watch the seasons change, and enjoyed their life together. They were married for 50 years until Don went to be with the Lord.

Marie is survived by her son, Donald (Anita) Matheson of Redmond, Washington; grandchildren, Laura (Bradley) Matheson Silva and Daniel Matheson. Preceded in death by husband, Donald Earl Matheson; parents, Emil and Emma Chesney and sister, Agnes (Don) Coen.
