Maureen “Molly” Kuharski

Maureen Louise Kuharski went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2026. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Dennis.

Maureen Louise Kuharski, lovingly known as “Molly” by all who knew and loved her, was born on December 29, 1952, at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis to William and Dorothea Dolan. The second youngest of six children, Molly was deeply connected to her brothers and sisters, and those bonds remained a treasured part of her life. She carried that same love into her relationships with her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart. Some of Molly’s fondest memories were made during summers spent with her family at their cabin on Lake Ossawinnamakee in the Brainerd Lakes.

After graduating from the Academy of the Holy Angels in 1971, Molly continued her education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Inspired to follow in her father’s footsteps, she earned her Bachelor of Accounting degree in 1975.

Molly’s hard work and knack for numbers landed her a job in the retail sector. It was in the early 1980s, while working at Sears and Roebuck, that Molly’s life changed forever when she met Dennis Kuharski, the man who would become her beloved husband and soulmate. It was through a divinely inspired work-related phone call between the two, Molly in Minneapolis and Dennis in Chicago, that a friendship began and ultimately blossomed into marriage in the summer of 1984. Molly moved to Chicago, where her career continued to flourish and eventually took her to the heights of the Sears Tower. She later held executive positions with several retailers, including Claire’s, Women’s Specialty Retail Group, Cato, and Lane Bryant, combining her gift for numbers with her lifelong passion for fashion.

All the while, Molly was a loving and devoted wife to Dennis, as well as a supportive mother, confidant, and friend to Jill, Denise, Pamela, and David.

Molly was known for teaching and sharing countless awesome, fun-filled memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those moments, filled with love, laughter, and adventure, have become a lasting legacy for her family. From hiking up the Statue of Liberty (a tall task for someone who was afraid of heights!) traveling on family trips across the country, taking a cruise to Alaska, and exploring Great Britain, Molly always found ways to make life special. Yet some of the most meaningful moments were found in the simple things: giving swim lessons, taking a phone call to offer advice or catch up, or sitting down for a friendly game of cards.

Upon retirement, Molly discovered a passion for scrapbooking and crafting. Her creativity and attention to detail were evident in the ornate handmade cards she lovingly created and the intricately wrapped presents she prepared with so much thought and care. These special creations remain treasured reminders of the love she poured into everything she did.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Kuharski; daughter, Jill Nicolai; father and mother, Bill and Dorothea Dolan; brother, Michael Dolan; and sister, Jeanne Otto.

Molly is survived by her children, Denise Block, Pamela Kuharski, David (Julie) Kuharski and Tristanne (Jeremy) Talarico; grandchildren, Michael (Sarrah), Jamie (Katie), Dakota, Corey, Ayden Nicolai, Olivia Block, Mikaela Talarico, Caleb, Keith, Sadie, Emelia, Adam, Joseph, Jill, Silas and Levi Kuharski; great-grandchildren, Liam, Adriana, Lilliana, Cayde, Braiden, Dawson, Asher, Kinsley Nicolai, Riley, Cullen, Nathan, and Harry Kuharski; sisters, Judy Dolan and Nancy Rattray; brother, Bob (Connie) Dolan; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
