Merril Laverne Wietstock, Sr.

Age 96, of South Minneapolis, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born July 28, 1925, in Waltham, MN to Louis and Marie Wietstock. He was a proud Air Force veteran who served in WWII and the Korean War.

Merril is survived by children, Linda (Dave) Wintheiser, LuAnn Lundeen-Otto, Merril (Diane) Wietstock Jr., Renae Langefels, Lori (John) Dillon, Lana Rodman and Lisa Bender; grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jordan, Alan, Andrea, Chase, Kristen, Kelsey, John Paul, Michael, Tony, Storm, Janelle and Hunter; 16 great-grandchildren; his dog, Kasey, and many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Martha “Marti”; parents; grandson, Don; great-grandsons, Michael and Nolan; son-in-law Dean; siblings, Milo “Mike” and Alvin “Al”.

Merril was an avid car enthusiast. He loved to work on old cars and appreciated the classics. He enjoyed traveling, visiting family, crossword puzzles with his wife and going on walks to feed the ducks. He loved reminiscing about the past and sharing his stories with his family.

He will be deeply missed.

Interment of Merril and Marti will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
