Michael George Keprios - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

July 26, 1955 - May 26, 2020

With broken hearts, we share the news that Michael George Keprios passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, from COVID-19. Mike was born in 1955 in Mpls., MN. From day one his parents demonstrated their love and commitment to Mike living a full life alongside his siblings. He was an extraordinary soul-- joyful, loving, trusting, patient, courageous, and tenacious. Mike had faith in people and God, a super funny sense of humor and comedic timing, loved time with family, slumber parties(no one ever slept at slumber parties), traditions, holidays, Leave it to Beaver (knew every episode), MN Twins, church, the MN State Fair (Pronto Pups) and music, all music, especially Country Western and loved his many trips to Nashville--Yee Haw! Mike was the glue of our family and he touched us all in unique ways that define who we are individually and as a family. He was our constant reminder of what matters most in life. Through the support of Kaposia, Inc. Mike was a proud employee of Old Chicago Pizza for 10 years. He was excited to go to work each day and it didn’t hurt that pizza was his favorite food group. He lived with three roommates supported by Hammer Residences and enjoyed his homelife. We are deeply grateful for all of the schools, teachers, agencies, programs, staff, volunteers, and dear neighbors and friends for being part of the village that helped nurture and support Mike. He was preceded in death by “Daddy George” Keprios and survived by “Mommy Dearest,” Dodie Keprios, sister Candy Davis (spouse Dean; sons Andrew Haga, Tony Haga; stepdaughters Jackie Smith, Megan Davis); sister Kim Keprios (spouse John Everett; son Michael Everett; stepdaughters Diana Ormsby, Teresa Muzny) brother Chris Keprios (spouse Joan Klukken Keprios; son Costa) and sister Kathy Smith (spouse Jeff; son Corey and fiancé Samantha Baierl; daughters Claire, Hillary and Erin); many loving cousins from the Keprios and Fredricks families, extended family, friends, and fans near and far. A public celebration of Mike’s life will be announced at a later date when all are able to gather together and hug.

My condolences to the entire family. While I only knew Mike from the Arc, the happy memories of spending my Wednesday lunches singing him show tunes (and Christmas songs in July) are dear to me. I knew that like clockwork he would come to volunteer on Wednesdays at the New Hope location I work at. Mike was a joy. When he stopped coming to volunteer during my lunches I still thought of him often and was very sad to hear of him passing.

What a sad time for you Kim, and for your family. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope you will find solace in the lovely life your brother Michael had thanks to his wonderful spirit and caring family. I’m guessing you had a hand in this beautiful obituary that gave us all a feeling for who MIchael was and the love and joy he lived. You’re a gifted writer and I enjoyed our time working together at PP. Take care of yourself in this difficult time. Virtual hugs to you – Romaine

Although we have only known Mike for 2 years, we so enjoyed seeing his smile when we visited Broadway. We also were happy to meet all of you, Mike’s siblinigs, and our sympathies go out to you and Dodie during this sad time. Always hard to lose a loved one, and it is particularly so now, when we are unable to be with them in their illness and last days. May you be comforted with many memories of happy times. Sincerely, Marshall and Dru Anderson
