Pauline R. Leighton - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

February 14, 1925 - December 17, 2015

Pauline Ruth Leighton (nee, Sanquist) age 90 of Richfield, died peacefully on December 17, 2015. Pauline was born in Pomeroy, Iowa on February 14, 1925. She attended Pomeroy High School and enjoyed telling friends that she graduated second in her class (there were three students in her class). She moved to Minneapolis to attend St. Catherine University in St. Paul. While living in the Twin Cities, Pauline met and married John Leighton. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2013. Pauline raised four daughters in Richfield and was extremely involved in their activities and school projects. She worked at the Star Tribune in the Circulation Department as a special driver and later as an executive assistant. She was organized, efficient and known for her sense of humor. Pauline was active in St. Peter's Church for many years as a member of the choir, the Calendar Club and as a volunteer for the funeral lunches. She had an enormous amount of energy and compassion for the elderly, faithfully visiting longtime friends and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Survived by her daughters, Barbara (Greg) Tillotson of Manhattan Beach, CA, Sam (Harvey) Fleitman of Richfield, Margaret Leighton of Montrose, Kathleen (Kevin) Collison of Prairie Village, KS; as well as seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A very special thanks to the Staff at Walker Care Suites and Allina Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Church.
