Robert C. "Bob" Peterson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

May 28, 1939 - May 16, 2026

Peterson, Robert C age 86 of Edina passed away on May 16, 2026.

Born May 28, 1939 in Minneapolis to Irving and Eldora Peterson. Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard; beloved wife, Janet; and treasured granddaughter, Sahar Ferdowsi.

Survived by daughters, Beth (Chuck) Opp and Jane (Saied) Ferdowsi; and grandchildren, Jenna Opp, Krista Opp and Samir Ferdowsi.

Bob was 3rd generation born and raised in Minneapolis, not only living with his parents and brothers, but along side his extended family; grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins on both sides of his family, instilling in him great sense of value and love of family.

Growing up, Bob made friends easily and maintained many of these early friendships for a lifetime; his crew evolved into the “Breakfast Club”, meeting up each month to share news and memories.

When Bob was 17, his family moved to a new home ‘in a new school district. This was a bit daunting for a high school senior, but it was at Roosevelt High School he met his best friend and future wife, Janet Sable. They married in 1961 and started a family; Beth in 1962 and Jane in 1964. Bob was a kind and loving dad and a devoted husband, his greatest joy in life was doing anything as long as Janet was by his side.

Bob had a successful career in sales that spanned over 50 years. He loved his job and it suited him perfectly - connecting with people was Bob’s superpower; he didn’t have acquaintances, if he knew you, you were his friend.

Bob was always busy, he enjoyed golfing, watching Twins and Wild games, playing bridge, doing yard work, volunteering time at church or as a Shriner, and most often meeting up with one or more groups of friends for coffee and conversation. He and Janet also loved to travel, exploring cities across the country, touring around Europe, and spending time each winter in Arizona or Florida.

Nothing made Bob happier than spending time with his cherished grandchildren - proudly supporting them from the sidelines of countless sporting events, concerts and performances. He loved spending time with them at the family cabin in Alexandria; tubing around the lake, fishing, playing cards and board games; it was always good time at the Cozy Nook.

Bob will be greatly missed and remembered for his great smile and kind, generous spirit; we are comforted in knowing that he once again has Janet by his side.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the teams at Care Suites of Edina for their kindness, support and compassionate care.

Memorials preferred to the Sahar Ferdowsi Memorial Scholarship at Iowa State University.
