Roger Arnold Nordos

Roger Arnold Nordos, 83, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Roger was born in Minneapolis on April 9, 1943, to Carl and Selma Nordos. He grew up in Minneapolis, and on January 30, 1966, he married Janet Elaine Roorda. Together, they built their life in Bloomington, where they raised three kids, and shared 60 years of marriage together.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and for his career, Roger put in over 35 years at the telephone company, earning a reputation as a highly skilled, dependable veteran of the trade working through the transitions from Northwestern Bell to US WEST and Qwest before taking his well-earned retirement.

Roger was a dedicated husband and father spending years in the stands and the audience, watching countless hockey games, dance recitals, and cello concerts. He was happiest spending time outside and at the cabin. He was always the first one up and out on the water to fish. He spent his days keeping busy, constantly working on his many projects, and loved ending the day sitting around the campfire with family.

He was a straight shooter and a hard worker. If you needed a hand, Roger was the guy you called. He was a master of the "Minnesota goodbye" relishing long conversations, making connections and enjoyed having coffee and swapping stories with the guys. He spent years on the church council, serving faithfully and making lifelong friends. More than anything, he took care of his family and was proud to watch his kids and grandkids grow up.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Cheryl Fick (Daniel), Michael Nordos (Gretchen Marie), and Angela Haugh (Marc); brother, Larry Nordos; sister, Lorraine Johnston (Jerry); and his five grandkids, Joshua, Enya, Ava, Keira, and Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Selma (Wallden) Nordos.
