Rose Marie Amos (Tillman)

Rose Marie Amos (Tillman) was born to Mary and Anton Tillman on September 30, 1934, and went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus, on June 21, 2026. Rosie, as she preferred, was born on a farm in Sauk Center, MN. The farm was owned by her grandfather Joseph Ludwig Tillman. When Rosie was 2 years old the family moved to a chicken farm close to Freeport, MN. At 6 years old, the family moved into the city of Freeport. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1952. That same year the family moved to 1912 1st Ave in Minneapolis.

Rosie went on to learn to be a nursing assistant at Eitel Hospital in Mpls. In February of 1956, Rosie met Robert (Bob) Donald Amos at Medina Ballroom when she was there with her sister Teri. It was love at first sight!

Bob proposed to Rosie on the shores of Lake Calhoun, and then were married on September 29, 1956 at St. Stephen’s Church, in a double wedding, with her sister and brother-in-law, Teri and Larry Capouch. Bob and Rosie were happily married for 14 years and had 4 children, Cindy, Bob, Tim, and Paul while also working with Social Services fostering children in their home, at 6310 Oliver Ave So in Richfield. Rosie’s beloved husband Bob, died in a plane crash on October 10, 1970, while on a hunting trip to Wyoming. She later adopted two of her foster children, Brenda and Asa. Rosie was a foster mom until 2006, totaling more than 40 years.

Between the years 1980 and 1988, Rosie worked for her parents, Mary and Anton, who were running a home for the developmentally disabled at 2008 Pillsbury Ave S in Mpls. This home was where Rosie’s very large extended family gathered for all holidays, and other life events, and made so many great memories in this home. After Rosie’s parents passed, she continued to care for three of the developmentally disabled adults in her own home at 6310 Oliver Ave So, Joan, Kevin and Mark (deceased), who still call her mom today.

Rosie lived in a few different senior living homes between 2006 until the time of her death, with the exception of living with her son Tim, his wife Oneyda, and their daughter Elizabeth for several years in between stays at senior living homes. Next to her precious Lord, Rosie loved her family more than anything. She loved being a mom, a grandma, and a great-grandma. Her family was her world. This family world included her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and all of their children. Rosie loved the people around her and formed deep relationships easily, and was always one of the most social and loved residents in each of her senior living homes.

Rosie had a real and intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Through her chronic pain and other health issues, she maintained an unwavering faith. The most lasting and impactful legacy of Rosie is that she was a devout prayer warrior for her family and friends. She took every situation with family and friends as a prayer request and brought everything before the Lord. She was an inspiration and absolutely treasured by her family, and she was also an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Rosie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; parents, Mary and Anton; and her siblings, Joe (Helen), Teri (Larry), Jim (Deloris), Nel (Frank), and Dick, and brother-in-law, Dick Traver. She is survived by her sister, Marge Traver; and sister-in-law Mary Jane Tillman; Rosie’s children, Cindy (Gary), Bob (Laurie), Tim (Oneyda), Paul, Brenda (Mark – deceased) and Asa; grandkids, Jessica (Dave), Krystle (Travis), Kellie, Rachel (Chris), Nathan, Shaun (Rita), Abigail (Kyle), Jenna (Jose), John, Inez, Samuel (Andrea), and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Max, Eleanor, Liam, Teddy, Amelia, Declan, Sophia, Bella, Harley, Cody, Milo, and baby boy expected in Oct.

Rosie’s life was full of what she loved the most – family. She will be dearly, dearly missed.

Celebration of Life Service for Rosie is Monday July 27, 2026, at Cedar Valley Church at 11:00am, with a visitation starting at 10:00am. Cedar Valley Church is located at 8600 Bloomington Ave So, Bloomington MN 55425. Please park and enter at Door 10 (northeast side of church building). Any flowers should be delivered to the church.

There will be a private family burial on Tuesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, where she will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Bob.
