Runette H. Peterson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

February 14, 1927 - September 15, 2021

Runette Hattie Peterson, age 94 of Hillsboro, ND, formerly New Hope, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Sanford Hillsboro Care Center.

Runette was born one of three triplets on February 14, 1927, at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato, MN to John & Hattie (Dressel) King. She grew up on the family farm in Dresselville Township in Le Sueur, MN. Runette married Roy Peterson on March 20, 1955, in Stillwater, MN. Together they had two children. David Roy was born in January, 1959, and Valerie Runette was born in February, 1961. Runette loved the Lord and often gave rides to her friends to attend church at Trinity Covenant. She also enjoyed volunteering in the church nursery. Runette was always cooking or baking something delicious for her family to enjoy. She especially loved working in her garden and with her many roses and other beautiful flowers. She often sent roses home with her visitors. She loved crafting and was always sewing, knitting or crocheting something for us. She was an avid cat & dog lover. She absolutely loved spoiling her pets and giving them leftovers. Even in her later years at the nursing home, you could find her in her chair petting her stuffed kitties and talking to them. Runette was a wonderful grandma and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Runette is survived by her son, Dave Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Valerie Paolo of Hibbing, MN; daughter in-law Brenda Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Tiffany (Bryan) Ambuehl of Hillsboro, ND; David Erlitz of Hibbing, MN; Rachel Erlitz of Edinburg, TX and Rebekah (Chris) Gates of Rosemount, MN; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Caleb Ambuehl, Sophia and Madalynn Erlitz, Isaiah Gates and Noah Koepke; several extended family members and special lifelong friend, Betty Ruth Kinsey.

Runette is preceded in death by her parents, John & Hattie (Dressel) King, loving husband Roy, siblings; Mary Louise (Lloyd) Manley, Ruth (George) Thompson, Ralph (Carol) King, infant brother Roy and niece Tricia Thompson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the exceptional staff at the Hillsboro Care Center and to the Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful care given to Runette. We are forever grateful.
