Willis O. Peterson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

January 25, 1939 - October 21, 2023

Willis O. Peterson, age 84, of Richfield, passed away October 21, 2023.

Willis grew up in Windom, MN where he and his brother would enjoy things like skating on the frozen river. In retirement, Willis used his woodworking talents making wooden toys that have made their way to children in other countries. His enjoyment came from enriching the lives of others. His ever-positive personality will be missed by friends and family.

He is survived by his sons, Allen (Dawn) Peterson and Mark (Lynne) Peterson; grandchildren, Beth (Nathan) Kleinke, Christie Peterson, Hannah Peterson and Ryan Peterson; great-grandson, August; and brother, Gordon.

Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nora Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to St. Jude’s. We also want to express thanks to those working at Abbott Northwestern hospital for their kind and friendly care over the last few weeks.

Mark, we are so sorry for the loss of your Dad. You always spoke so well of him. It is tough to lose a parent, no matter when. May your memories help make his passing a bit easier for you and your family.

My condolences to the family. I was a neighbor to Willis for 15yr. and we grew close as I cooked and shared meals with him and painted his beloved toys. We collaborated on new models, added the faces and found new places for them to be enjoyed. I will miss Willis greatly and the many conversations we had about any topic under the sun. He was very proud of his kids, grandkids and great grandson.
