Yvonne Lopez Atkins - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

December 29, 1956 - June 20, 2021

Yvonne Lopez Atkins passed on June 20th, 2021. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 29, 1956. She married the love of her life, Jim Atkins, on December 27, 1980. Together they built a life and had three sons and two granddaughters, to whom Yvonne was unwaveringly devoted.
Among many other things, she enjoyed arts, crafts, antiques, gardening, and traveling, especially road trips to Texas and the North Shore of Lake Superior. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether it was watching a crime show together, playing a board game, or just going for a walk. More than anything else, she was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, and Christian.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Philip, Andrew (KC), and Peter; grandchildren, Lillian and Ailia; mother, Rosa (Pedro) Lopez; sisters, Alma (Fred) Woods, Veronica (Daniel) Saldana, and TC (John) Segovia; and countless beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends; all will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Pedro “Sonny” Lopez; and brothers-in-law, Fred Woods and Pat Atkins.
Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel in Richfield, Minnesota with a Memory Share at 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or memorials to the family are appreciated.

Yvonne was an incredible person who worked hard and was not afraid to speak her mind. She was not only an employee of mine but a friend, sounding board, and someone you could count on for anything. She was a giver and loved her family and friends. You could not ask for someone better. You will forever be in my heart. Stephen Zins
