Mary Lee Whiting "Marly" - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

Mary Lee Whiting “Marly”

August 8, 1932 - November 3, 2016

Mary Lee "Marly" Whiting, of Edina, died November 3rd at a hospice in Chaska. Marly was born to Lee and Mildred Whiting. She attended Holy Angels High School and graduated from the College of Saint Catherine with a degree in sociology. Her true love, fostered at a young age by her parents, was animals; training and showing 13 generations of Champion Buff Cocker Spaniels. Marly excelled in the sport of obedience and opened her own training school, Canine College. There she taught many pets to be good canine citizens, and their owners the value of hard work, praising your dog and how determination pays off. Many of her students went on to become AKC judges - all learning the rudiments of dog training from Marly. She also excelled as a horsewoman, showing American Saddlebreds. She participated in five-gaited class and showed at the State Fair into her eighties. Her love of animals was her life. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by loving niece, Mary Jo Gregg and other relatives. Marly taught us all to "never make the judge think twice" and to "step off with confidence". We are sure the day God called Marly home she squared her shoulders and leaving on her right foot, crossed confidently into eternity, there to meet the company of her parents, the saints and all her four-legged angels. Rest in Peace, Marly.
