Daniel E. Nash - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

October 20, 1941 - March 31, 2026

Daniel Edwin Nash, 84, passed away on March 31, 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a long battle with kidney disease and COPD. Dan was born on October 20, 1941 in Warroad, Minnesota to Samuel and Josephine Nash. He graduated from Falls High School in International Falls, Minnesota and entered the Navy on October 27, 1960. He was a Petty Officer Third Class and served as a Fire Control Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

In 1965, Dan married Elsie Otto and together they had two children, Valerie Lynn Nash and Scott Daniel Nash. Dan and Elsie later divorced.

Dan married Rhea Montague in 1983 and they were married for 38 years, until Rhea's death in 2021.

Dan worked for Yellow Freight in Minneapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Dan and Rhea enjoyed playing cards, making beautiful crafts, going to the corner VFW for Prime Rib on Friday nights, and doting on their 4 dogs, Murphy, Ebony, Mika, and Rebel. Dan also worked part-time during retirement at a local hardware store and spent time outside hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Dan always enjoyed fishing with his brothers in Canada, which was not so much an international trip as a short walk from International Falls.

Dan, Rhea, and Rebel moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2004 to be closer to family. In Casper, Dan enjoyed playing solitaire, reading, watching football (Go Vikings!) and baseball (Go Twins!), and spending time with Rhea.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea; parents, Samuel and Josephine Nash; brothers, Samuel J. Nash, Harry D. Nash, Charles R. Nash, and Joseph Nash; sisters, Ruth A. Kammeyer, Joanna M. Lee, and Patricia E. Otto; step-son, Richard Erickson and Murphy, Ebony, Mika, and Rebel.

Dan is survived by his children, Valerie and Scott; grandchildren, April (Rob) Smith, Watt (Toni) Lee IV, and Benjamin Frehr; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Smith, Bryson Smith, and Riley Reget; step-daughter, Vicki (Dan) Tholson; step-son, Michael (Tracy) Erickson; step-grandson, Jagger Ubinger; step-granddaughter, Nicole Tholson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold services at a later date.
