James Nicholas Gilhousen

July 29, 1963 - October 8, 2025

James Nicholas Gilhousen
“Jim”

Age 62, of Lakeville. Born on July 29, 1963, Jim grew up in Richfield and enjoyed playing baseball, football, and basketball throughout his childhood years. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1981. Jim went on to study landscape design and spent the beginning of his career at Landshapes and Arteka as a foreman. He then continued his career working for the City of Inver Grove Heights in the Parks Department.

Jim was a devoted fan of Minnesota sports. No one cheered louder for the Vikings, the Twins, or the Wild. That same passion carried into his children’s lives, as he never hesitated to step in to coach or cheer on a baseball, soccer, or softball team. He even took his talents to the stage in many dance recitals. Jim also had a deep love for gardening and flowers. Planting spring bulbs, hanging flower baskets, and caring for every corner of the yard became a family tradition. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved German Shepherds: Sargent, Callie, Kaiser, and Greta, over the years.

Jim is survived by mother, Elayne (née, Witte) Gilhousen; children, Nicholas Gilhousen and Emma Gilhousen; their mother, Marsha (née, Skovran) Gilhousen; and other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marlin "Gil" Gilhousen.
