Donaldlene MacDonald Meade - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

September 23, 1925 - October 22, 2022


Donaldlene MacDonald Meade, age 97, of Richfield, passed away on October 22, 2022.

Donna was born and raised in Cando, North Dakota, the daughter of the town doctor. She moved to Minneapolis where she met her future husband working at the Veterans Administration at Fort Snelling. From 1951 until their deaths, they lived in Richfield and were parishioners at St. Peter's Catholic Church. She worked as a preschool teacher, and for many years with the Hennepin County Library System. She was an accomplished pianist, golfed well into her 80s, bowled for decades, and was an avid sports fan. During retirement, she and Joe spent winters in Mulberry, Florida together, and on her own after his death.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Steve) Meade-Moore, Margaret Troje-Meade, Mac (Jean) Meade, Maria Meade, and Mike (Carol Wilson) Meade; grandchildren, Casey, Tiffany, John, Dan and Tessa; great-grandchildren, Basil and Phoenix; sister, Bernie (Bob) King; sister-in-law, Cyrilla MacDonald and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Meade; parents, Dr. John and Gladys MacDonald; brother, John MacDonald; sons-in-law, Mike Troje and Mike Nichols.

In lieu of memorials, donations preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice.

    Condolences to Donaldlene’s families.
    A couple years ago, I asked what changed the most in her lifetime. She said, ‘the phone!’ So true!
    She’ll be missed at the Academy of the Holy Angels tours and the picnics on the lawn.
