Allen Burke - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

December 3, 1933 - March 25, 2014


Allen C. Burke, age 80 of Richfield. Passed away on March 25th at his home. Proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Retired motorcycle racer & St. Louis Park Police Officer and Detective. Eight time Minnesota State Dirt Track Champion and two time National Short Track Champion. He was inducted into the National Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1996, where they knew him as "Old 91." He retired from racing in 1963. Al joined the Police Department and was their motorcycle officer while on traffic division when he retired in 1976. Al was a Golden Gloves Boxer through the 50's. Survived by his children, Allen (Janice) Burke, Thomas (Jo'Ann) Burke, and Kristie (Robert) Allen; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Molly, Tyler and Tyson.

    So many great memories of times past. Too many to share. But I have them in my mind. I can still see the boat on the Oahe Reservoir. “Get the net, no get a club, no get the gun!!”

    Al Burke was a friend and a fine individual. He was so talented, and so much fun to be around. The content of his character said it all. The Burmeisters will all miss you.
