Betty Marie Larson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

July 18, 1925 - January 24, 2022

Betty Marie Larson (nee, Sowles), age 96, went home to be with her Lord, January 24, 2022. Betty was born at home in Minneapolis to Cecil & Selma Sowles, July 18, 1925, and grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1943. As a young girl she worked at Fort Snelling helping young families with babysitting and cleaning. She then worked in the office at Sears and Archer Daniels Midland. After she raised her family she worked at Centennial Elementary School in Richfield as a playground lady and then a Title I Aide until she retired.
Betty’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She was always actively involved in her church both at Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls and Oak Grove Lutheran in Richfield serving in many different capacities. Her involvement in Luther League led her to meeting Paul at a Luther League convention in Duluth. An engagement at the next Luther League convention at Garden of the God’s in Colorado Springs led to a marriage of 56 years.
Betty was a fierce prayer warrior for her family and friends over the years. She was also quick to make a phone call, send a card or a note to encourage others. Betty has had many good friends over the years and she was involved in both a sewing and birthday club with lifelong friends. Betty and Paul were also involved in multiple fellowship groups with church friends.
Family was very important to her and one of her favorite ways to show her love was by cooking wonderful meals and desserts. Celebrations and family gatherings brought her great joy. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; in-laws, Anna and Stewart Larson; siblings, Larry (Coralis) Sowles, Donna (Winston) Lowrie; in-laws, Dorothy and Marvel Domke and niece, Patty. She is survived by brother and sister in-law, Jim and Lois Sowles; daughters, Nancy (Mike) Holien, Faith (Bryan) Voight and Gail (John) Nelson; grandchildren, Kristen (Mike), Bethany (Ryan), Joel (Jessica), Nathan (Amy), Daniel (Rose), Abram, Anna, Rebekah, Andrew (Megan) and Matthew; 15 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Samuel, Martha, Andrew, Timothy, Laura, Esther, Isaiah, Ruth, Mackenzie, Joyanna, Wesley, Simon and Gideon; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Betty's service will be livestreamed at www.trinityfalls.org
