Donald (Don) M. Johnson, age 85, of Richfield, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2013. Born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on October 21, 1928 to Morris and Helen Johnson. He grew up in Spring Valley, Minnesota, but spent the majority of his life in Richfield. Don developed a love of sports at an early age and that love continued his entire life. While in high school he lettered many times in both football and basketball. For several decades he coached many young men in intermural football and baseball. Many went on to play varsity sports for Richfield High School and several played collegiate ball. Don was a CPA and was employed by the Federal Government. he retired in 1987 after 30 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing and watching sports, with an occasional trip to Mystic Lake.
Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn, of Richfield; sons, Richard (Linda) of Grand Prairie, Texas and Randy (Donnis) of Burnsville, Minnesota; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lady,who during his final days barely left his side.
