Duane W. Martinson

Age 72, of Minneapolis passed away peacefully March 29, 2024. Duane was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Southwest High School. Duane got his engineering degree from the University of Minnesota and continued his education at Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary.

Duane’s education led him to a unique career path including work in the church, a sales job with Garlock-French roofing company, and eventually co-ownership of E-Tech, a commercial laundry equipment firm. Duane’s sales role with E-Tech had him traveling all over the world.

Duane spent summers between Minneapolis and his lake home in Pelican Rapids and winters on a small yacht he kept off the coast of St. Petersburg, FL. Duane often said he had too many places, but he loved being near family and the friends he’d made in each location. Anyone who knew Duane knew his warmth, good humor, generosity, and love of music.

Survived by his brother, Alan (Julie) Martinson; nieces, Jennifer (Matthew) Jacobs and Lauren Martinson (Nick Bryngelson); nephew, Brian Lofquist; great-nieces, Lily and Clara; great-nephews, Soren and Leif.

Duane is also survived by cousins Paul Rankin, Kim (Chris) Guck, Julie (Dave) DeMuth, Lyndon (Kim) Johnson, Loretta (Edward) Jenson, Robert (Eileen) Jacobson, and extended family including Eric Jenson and Andrea Jenson Packer and their families.

Preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mildred Martinson.

My husband and I were Duane’s neighbor for close to 10 years in the marina in St. Pete and was always so funny, warm, and welcoming. The marina will not be the same without him. Condolences to the family. With Love – Melissa & CJ Schnier
