Earl W. Thorndal - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

December 5, 1956 - February 5, 2014

Earl W. Thorndal, age 57, of Richfield, formerly of St. Paul. Earl was a genuine and loving man, who truly lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for motorcycles and rode all over the country. When he wasn’t riding, he was planning his next trip. He grew up spending much of his free time at Round Lake with his family, something he continued to do throughout his life. He recently fulfilled a lifelong dream, completing a cabin on the shore of Round Lake, the place where he felt most at home. Earl was a wonderful and loving son, brother, father, uncle and friend and recently celebrated the birth of his first grandchild. He was someone that enjoyed the small things in life and always took time to stop and smell the roses. He will be forever missed! Preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Nancy and his three dogs, Jeannie, Dusty and Sadie.  Survived by daughter, Grace (Jared) Steinberg; grandson, Marco; significant other, Barbara Olson; siblings, Herbert (Soledad) Thorndal III, Ann (Robert McKenzie) Thorndal, Matthew (Lilia) Thorndal, Helen (Charles) Adams, Christine (Patrick) Tate, Joseph (Christine) Thorndal, Pearl (Douglas) Thorndal-Stewart, Janet (Kenneth) Lebsack; loving nieces, nephews aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Minnesota Medical Foundation, the Animal Humane Society, or the Round Lake Association, 622 13th Ave. S., Fargo, ND 58103.

We are so sorry for your loss. We will miss Earl too.
The lake is changing. Sorry Earl did not have time to
enjoy his new cabin. We will remember the motorcycles
going by and Sadie on the back. Take care of yourselves.
    You are in our hearts.

Sorry to hear about Earl’s passing. I loved his laughing and zest for life. I know how important family was to him. We don’t know when God will call us home. He has his mother & father waiting for him. May his family be blessed in their remembrance of him. Cousin Tom

I’m sad to learn of Earl’s passing, I got to work with him a couple of decades ago & enjoyed chatting with him during lunch hour & also how he approached his engineering job. I would think of him from time to time but could not remember his name correctly, till I recently found his work business card. I know it’s been nearly 10 years since he passed but I extend my condolences to his friends and family.
