Faye Ilene Sprecker - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

March 16, 1925 - July 17, 2021

Faye Ilene Sprecker age 96, a long-time resident of Richfield, passed away on July 17, 2021. She was the second of ten children born to Ross and Bernice (Rose) Taft. She graduated from Brainerd High School before moving to Minneapolis to work for Northrup King. She met Fred and they were married on November 9, 1946. After many years as a mother and homemaker, Faye went to work for Dayton's at Southdale in the candy department and then for Control Data, Corp. Unsatisfied with retiring she returned to work in food demonstration at Holiday and then as a nursery helper at Christ Presbyterian Church. She was a Cub Scouts Den Mother, a Girl Scouts Troop Leader, and involved in church circle, garden club, and delivering meals-on-wheels. When they were in their 90's, she and Fred volunteered at Sheridan Elementary School helping 2nd graders with their reading and math. She was an avid gardener who preserved and shared her produce. She enjoyed knitting mittens which she donated to inner-city schools for their students and always had a sweater and/or afghan ready for new babies born to friends or relatives. She did all kinds of crafts and needlework including crocheting, quilting, and sewing clothes for people and dolls. She stayed on top of current affairs by reading the newspaper from cover to cover every day and usually fell asleep in bed with a book in her hand. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter were the joys of her life.
Preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick, in 2020; parents, Ross and Bernice (Rose) Taft; brothers, Vernon (Iona), James (Lynn), and Richard Taft; sisters, Jean (Walter) Crawford, Doris (Raymond) Toney, Navada (Bill) Whitmire, and Iris (Wayne) Toney; grandson, James Engman, Jr., and great-granddaughter, Tara Engman.
