James L. Veeder, Sr. - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

April 30, 1931 - June 27, 2019

James Lyle Veeder, Sr.
"Jimmie"

Jim was a son, marine, husband, father, grandfather

He will be welcomed to heaven by many including his parents, Lyle and Marilyn, his daughter Cindy Iverson and most of all, his beloved wife Beverly. Though his life touched many, missing him most will be his son Jim and wife Susan, his son Scott and wife Grace, and daughter Kellie and husband Alan. Jim will also be much missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim was born in Grey Eagle, Minnesota where he lived until he was 10 years old. His parents moved to Minneapolis during WWII and he attended Nokomis Junior High and Roosevelt High School Jim joined the Marine Reserves and was called to serve in the Korean War. He survived the worst battle in Marine history- the battle of the Chosin Reservoir.

After his discharge Jim married Beverly in 1952 and began a life that included raising four grateful children and various dogs that knew he was a sucker. Dad cared for his family above all and he worked for 30 years at the Ford plant in St. Paul, MN. to keep us all provided for. After retirement he and Bev kept busy taking care of his parents and aunts, fishing, antiquing and traveling and taking the dog out.

As a vet Jim was entitled to benefits that he was reluctant to receive until the DAV assisted him - they were instrumental in making his retirement years more comfortable. Jim spent his last days at Breck Homes in Bloomington where he received amazing care by Jenny Morgan and her wonderful staff- they made his end days happy and comfortable. Special thanks to Sabrina who taught Jim not to judge a book by its cover or the swear words inside, Maranda, Massa, Bhan, Jeanne, Nand, Elina ,Donna, Ruth, Deon, Jemima and so many others that took such good care of him and brought him laughter and love.

Farewell dad, until we see you again.
