Jean Theresa Jackelen - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

May 23, 1929 - August 22, 2022

Jackelen, Jean Theresa, age 93 of Burnsville, MN passed away peacefully, of natural causes, at Martin Luther Campus on August 22, 2022.

Born on May 23, 1929 near Glenwood City, WI to Phil and Frances Meulemans. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lois and Alice, brother Ed and daughter-in-law Beth. Jean married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Earl Jackelen. They were married for 65 years, until Earl’s death in 2016.

Jean was a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business and worked for several companies prior to taking time off to raise her family. Later in life, she rejoined the workforce and was a long-time employee of Summit Bank and the American Red Cross.

She was a member of the Church of the Assumption for over 70 years and a frequent volunteer at Assumption, Bridging, and Loaves and Fishes. She loved singing and was an enthusiastic member of the Assumption choir for many years.

She is survived by her brother Bill, sons and daughters-in-law, Ron (Michelle), Mike (Kim), Dave (Jane) and Jeff, 10 grandchildren (Katie, Dan, Betsy, Matt, Steve, Charlie, Kenny, Larry, Laura, Robert) and eight great-grandchildren (Nick, Emma, Vivian, Amy, Max, Felix, Luke and Spencer). And oh how Jean loved those great-grand kids. She insisted that a current picture of each was prominently displayed in her apartment.

We will miss her devotion to family, her faith and her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Memorials to The American Red Cross or The Church of the Assumption in Richfield, MN.
