Kathleen Erna Tinseth

Kathleen was born on July 11, 1952 in Cyrus, Minnesota. She passed away on September 4, 2018 after a long struggle with the complications of MS. She was 66 years old. At the time of her death she was a resident of Martin Luther Care Center, a nursing home in Bloomington, MN.

Kathleen earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Augsburg College. After graduating from Augsburg College, Kathleen began her teaching career in Hinckley, MN. She loved her job at the school there and stayed until she resigned in 1992 due to her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. She sold the home she had built in Hinckley and moved to Edina to be close to her parents. Her career in Hinckley school was wonderful for her. She loved teaching and loved her students. The highlights were her involvement in putting on musical productions at the High School. The productions were fantastic and included Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and many others.

She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the Augsburg Choir and after college was often called on to sing solos at events and serve as Cantor at her church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Vivian Tinseth and one nephew, Jon Chi.

She is survived by two sisters; Karen Tinseth Nord (Mike) and Phyllis Tinseth Chi (Joon); niece Sonja Chi; nephew Erick Chi (Amy), and his children grandniece Annie Chi and grandnephew Jackson Chi.

A private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, 5901 Lyndale Ave. South, Richfield, MN in the Tinseth family plot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
