Kurt Hannes, age 72, of Shoreview, passed away on October 15, 2022.
He is survived by his sons, Simon and Henry Hannes; friend and ex-spouse, Michelle Lesley; sister, Kate (Julius) Pollema; brother, Mike (Dorothy) Hull; sister-in-law, Debbie Rivera; brother-in-law, Gary Lesley; and friend, Deb Silverstein.
He is preceded in death by his parents, June Hannes Hull and Ralph Hannes.
Kurt was a dedicated child protection social worker at Hennepin County for 25 years. He loved his work and cared deeply about keeping children safe in their homes and communities. Kurt was a devoted Catholic and throughout his life sought out other traditions such as Yoga and Buddhism. He loved travel and adventure, living in Mexico, Korea and across the US. After retiring, Kurt volunteered as an ESL instructor and was involved in immigrant advocacy.
