Lorna M. Lund - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

October 8, 1920 - December 22, 2017

Lorna Margaret Lund (Rolf), age 97, of Richfield, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Lorna was born on October 8, 1920, to parents, Frederick and Meta Rolf. She was raised on the family farm in Glencoe, MN along with her brothers, Victor Rolf, Herbert Rolf, and Elmer Rolf, and her sister Hilda Vaughn. On January 21, 1949 she married Dale Thomas Lund, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Pamela (David) Anderson, and Shelley Anondson. Lorna was a loving grandma to six grandchildren, Erika Anondson, Ryan (Angie) Anondson, Stephanie (Keith) Sullivan, Tom (Jessica) Anderson, Mandy (Carl) Anondson, and Nicolas Anderson, and seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Kailey, Georgia, Talen, Megan, Skylar and Colten. Lorna loved orchids, and enjoyed rosemaling, gardening, reading books, and traveling. She made the best BLTs with her homegrown tomatoes and homemade pickles on the side. Though Lorna lost her husband Dale in 1985, she never slowed down one bit, in fact, well into her eighties Lorna could be found out on the golf course enjoying a round of golf or even line dancing with friends. Lorna was 100 percent German, stubborn as a bull and as strong as an ox, which is exactly why she lived to be 97 years old. She charmed everyone with her quick wit and sense of humor and would even teach you a few German swear words if you asked her. One Christmas Lorna made everyone in her family a quilt and then vowed to never do it again because it was too much work. In her last few weeks of life she entertained the hospital staff, making them chuckle when she told them that she had not used table salt since the 70’s and then swapped dairy free cooking tips with them. Those who had the honor of knowing Lorna considered themselves extremely lucky because she was truly one AMAZING woman. When life was difficult, Lorna was the rock and voice of reason, every obstacle somehow seemed smaller after discussing it with her. Lorna hated to make a fuss about anything, however, we would like to make a fuss about her and she deserves a party to celebrate her life.
