Margaret Etta Bosshardt "Peg", born November 15, 1932 in Winona, MN, died December 7, 2023 in Minneapolis, MN, at the Mt. Olivet Home. Preceded in death by mother, Ruth in 1980, father, Floyd in 2003 and brother-in-law, Jim Andrews in 2016. Survived by sister, Mary Andrews, of Portland, OR and brother, Paul (Sue) Bosshardt of Portland, OR; nephews David (Sarah) Andrews of Portland, OR, Daniel (Kelsey Cleveland) Bosshardt of Hillsboro, OR, Tim (Jen) Andrews and Mark (Donna) Andrews of Portland, OR; five grandnephews and two grandnieces.

Peg moved to South Minneapolis with her parents in 1933. By the time she was in junior high she knew she wanted to be a librarian. She attended Bancroft Elementary and Bryant Junior High Schools in Minneapolis, Central High School in St. Paul (Class of ’50). She grew up as a child of a pastor and being an active Christian was always important to her.

She graduated from Hamline University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The pursuit of her post graduate degree took her to the Carnegie Library School in Pittsburgh. She earned her Master of Library Science degree in 1956. Peg chose Detroit, MI for the opportunity to be a children’s librarian and served as assistant to the personnel director at the Detroit Public Library. In 1968 Peg accepted the position of head librarian in Marshall, Minnesota. In Marshall, Peg contributed to the establishment of the nine county Plum Creek Regional Library system. She retired in 1998 after 30 years of employment and moved to Edina, MN.

Peg became active in AAUW (American Association of University Women) while in Marshall where she served as President for 2 years and after retirement, served as President in the St. Paul Chapter from 2004 to 2006.

After the death of her mother, she traveled with her father to his ancestral homeland of Switzerland and that of her mother’s in England. Later, she took the train to Portland where she visited family. Peg’s life interests remained with books, research and education. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, most recently with The United Methodist Church of Peace in Richfield, MN.

Peg received loving support from family, friends and staff during her years in The Pines and in Mt Olivet Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The United Methodist Church of Peace in Richfield, MN; Walker Methodist Foundation or Hamline University.
