    To the Dahle family:

First off, I would like to express my sympathies for the loss of a GREAT man. No matter, how many times I saw your dad I could never call him by his first name….he will always be Mr. Dahle. This name is a sign of respect for my elders taught to me by our parents. Our family was so lucky to have the Dahle family our next door neighbors. Your father ALWAYS said ‘hi’ to us. Either he would come over to greet us or we would go over to greet him. Your father would ALWAYS greet us with a smile. As we were growing up, your father showed us how strong of a Christian he was, as did your mother. What a great example for all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to follow. I recall so many stories about your father and his interactions with our family. So many times, both of our parents would be sitting outside their homes visiting with one another. Many times I’ve told the story of Cleo throwing up on me while we were headed to your cabin. Your parents felt so bad but it wasn’t that bad….it was Cleo. Once when I was working on my mother’s upstairs bathroom, replacing the sink, I ran into a problem. I went over to your dad’s home and asked him what he thought about a pipe which I couldn’t loosen up. He mentioned the following…do you know a number to a plumber? Yes, I replied. Then, go and work on it and if it breaks, call the plumber. I went back and pushed, turned, cranked on the pipe, not worrying if it would break or not. If it did, time to call the plumber. Anyway, I had success. I returned to Mr. Dahle and thanked him for his suggestion and told him I was successful. He just smiled. Your father was an INSPIRATION for others! When I think of your father, many descriptive words come to my mind. He was a christian, great neighbor, great role model, great friend to the 13th avenue crowd, friendly, outgoing, a very active person and so many more things which are too numerous to mention at this time.

Hearing your father had died in his sleep, I know our Lord and his wife were right there to greet him. Mr. Dahle has a body totally healed, he is singing with the angels, he has become your guardian angels and he will, along with your mother, be greeting you when you join the heavenly angels. His faith, which has been instilled in all of you, has given you the pass into heaven because you are following in his footsteps. God Bless all of you! Please know our thoughts and prayers are with the Dahle family. Even though, the thought of losing a great person, you all know he is in an awesome place. Lynn and Gesche Petersen

Dick will be sorely missed! He has been my neighbor the entire time that I have lived in Minnesota. He and his wife, Alice, and children Dick, Diane, John, and Jeanne were a big part of my childhood memories. The Dahle children were all younger than my siblings and myself, but they took part in outdoor activities with us. Dick and Alice would sit outside with my parents and help to “supervise” the children. I will miss Dick’s smile and wave when he saw me outside. There will be an empty spot in my heart.

I worked with Dick at Honeywell many years ago. I still have the “Norwegian” thermometer that he gave me with a laugh when he retired, where it’s always “tree below zero. ” He was a great mentor and friend. He always had a kind word for everyone, and was a wonderful Christian example. I am sorry to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed.
