Ozzie Lowe - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

March 16, 1927 - February 29, 2020


Ellsworth "Ozzie" Lowe, age 92, of New Hope, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Christ on February 29, 2020.

Ozzie, the son of John and Lorene (Boltz) Lowe, was born March 16, 1927, on a farm in Middleville Township. They moved to Delano in 1931, where Ozzie played basketball and baseball throughout high school, and graduated in 1945. He was blessed with a strong pitching arm, and was invited to try out for the Chicago Cubs, but instead, enlisted with the US Navy where he spent 18 months during WWII. In his 8 months in Japan, he was among some of the first to see the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing and devastation.

From 1947 - 1985 Ozzie worked in the Music Business - 22 years at Decca Records, 15 years at Pickwick Records and lastly with Electric Fetus in Sales. He retired in 1985 after a spinal cord injury. On August 23, 1950, Ozzie married Gerry Secora in Waverly, MN. They moved to St. Louis Park and then Golden Valley where they raised their 4 children; 2 adopted and 2 homemade. They enjoyed many summers at their cabin on Lake Sylvia in Annandale, where they shared their love of sun and water with family and friends creating treasured memories for all. They were blessed with 68 years, 5 months of marriage.

Ozzie is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gerry (Secora) Lowe; parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Isla (Jerry) Lenoue and Norma (Ambrose/Doc) Motzko; son-in-law, Bob Hatzenbeller, great-grandchild, Logan Pieper; sister-in-law, Eleanore Florek; brothers-in-law, Ray Secora and Gene Florek. Ozzie is survived by children, Cathy Hatzenbeller, David (Rachel) Lowe, Dick & Diane Lowe; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eli) Pieper, Katie Lowe (Wesley), step-grandson, Ryan Pekarna and great-grandchild, Dash Revak; extended family, nieces, nephews and friends.

Join us in celebrating Ozzie's life on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Iten Funeral Home, 300 N. Third St., Delano. Visitation 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, with a lunch following. Graveside service for both Ozzie and Gerry Lowe will be held following the luncheon at Delano Public Cemetery. Funeral arrangements made by Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, Richfield, in conjunction with the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Wooddale Church, Eden Prairie, Disabled American Veterans of donor's choice.
