Patricia Joan Pearson (nee Hopkins)

March 3, 1931 - March 2, 2020


Age 88 of Bloomington. Patricia was born to Elmo and Gladys Hopkins in Minneapolis on March 3, 1931. She passed away on March 2, 2020. Survived by her husband, Bill; children, Susan (Charles) Scherer, Mark Pearson, Gretchen (Tom) Altier; grandchildren, Derek, Briana, Ethan, Riley, Molly; daughter-in-law, Lynda Rae; sister-in-law, Cathy Hopkins. Preceded in death by son, Bruce Pearson; brother, Bill Hopkins. She was a devoted volunteer at Frasier School in promoting equal opportunities for children with special needs, including her son, Mark. Patricia was also a volunteer at Opportunity Partners, where Mark is employed. She taught confirmation at Normandale Lutheran and sang in the choir. Patricia loved spending time with her family at the cabin and in Arizona. She was awarded a plaque for her efforts in volunteering for the public school in Apache Junction working with children with special needs. During her summers for 20 years, she was in a choir and volunteered for a church in Cross Lake where most of her efforts benefited Camp Knutson. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Rd., Edina. Visitation one hour prior. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Minnesota Masonic Home Memory Care Unit or Opportunity Partners. The family would like to thank Minnesota Masonic Home and their wonderful staff, where Patricia spent the last four years of her life.
