November 30, 1938 - August 13, 2023
Paul Martin Rasmussen passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on August 13, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, Rasmus Peter and Judith (Gudin); son, Eric James, and daughter, Maija Beth Rasmussen. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (née, Lyons) and sister, Lilah Rasmussen; relatives in United States, United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. Paul was born at home in New Market Township on November 30, 1938. His father was born in Denmark and his mother was a first-generation immigrant from Norway. Paul worked for many years as a surveyor for Mn DOT, was an avid reader, and faithful member of the North Star Ski Club. His favorite moments were spent camping with Liz under the stars anywhere a tent could be pitched. His death occurred less than a month after he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was ever thankful for being able to come home the last two weeks of his life to watch over the garden he developed and many birdfeeders to passionately care for God’s Creation. We are grateful for the loving care provided by dear neighbors, friends and St. Croix Hospice for the comfort and respect provided.

Liz,
I was so sorry to learn about Paul. I will keep Paul and your children in my prayers. When I was a teenager, I always thought that you and Paul had a really great marriage and I was right.
Take care,
Bev Wolfe
I first met Paul and Liz at least a dozen or more years ago at a Northstar Ski Club meeting or a Parks and Trails function. Like him, I was also a professional surveyor, a bicyclist, and avid canoeist, and maybe that was why he was so easy to talk with, but not entirely. He was simply a Good, open and down to earth man. I will miss seeing and talking with him again. My sympathy for Elizabeth
