Stan M. Lunderby - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

April 12, 1945 - January 23, 2014

Stan M. Lunderby, age 68, of Princeton, and formerly of Richfield. Passed away on January 23rd. Stan was born on April 12th, 1945 to Arne and Ann Lunderby (nee, Harris) in Litchfield, MN. He would go on to graduate from Litchfield High School in 1963 and briefly attended Willmar Technical Institute. Stan relocated to Minneapolis and began working at Thermo King in Bloomington in 1969.  Stan remained employed as a pick truck operator and fork lift driver in the Service Parts department at Thermo King until his retirement in 2005.

Stan was united in marriage to Marion C. Lunderby (nee, Kolvig) on June 26th, 1971 and they were blessed with two children, Jonathan "Jon" in 1973 and James "Jim" in 1976.  Marion would pass away in 1988 and she lived on valiantly through the relationship forged between Stan, Jon and Jim in later years.

Stan would go on to meet his current spouse Mary Lunderby (nee, Perry) in 1998 and they were united in marriage on October 22nd, 2005.  Stan and Mary would share many excellent memories over their retirement years that included trips to Reno, Las Vegas and Branson, MO.  Mary provided excellent care for Stan in his final months following his diagnosis with cancer in August 2013.

Stan would go on to become a Grandpa to Joseph Lunderby on 9/22/2010 and Maggie Lunderby on 1/7/2014.

Stan will always be known for his fun-loving and caring personality. Stan’s favorite hobbies were entering classic car shows with his vintage cars and watching professional wrestling on Monday nights. He always liked to share good times with his family and co-workers and was not afraid to take the ribbing of their jokes. Stan worked two jobs for many years to provide for his family and continued to work part-time at Coborn’s in Foley, MN until his illness.

Stan is survived by wife, Mary; sons, Jon (fiance’ Michelle Palm) and Jim (Ginny); step-son, Ross (Kelly) Perry; grandchildren, Joseph and Maggie; step-grandchildren, Stephen Perry and Samantha Sletten; brother, Dave (Renee); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by wife, Marion; and parents, Arne and Ann.

The family wishes to thank the care team led by Dr. Jonathan Boksberger and the caring staff at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of Gary. We were Litchfield High School classmates. We missed Gary at our 50th class reunion last August. I remember visiting with him at our 40th class reunion about his classic cars. He was such a kind man and so easy to talk to. May wonderful memories sustain you all in the days to come. God Bless.
